Was a church. New owners now. They are on facebook. Hopefully they will reopen. The neighborhood has really gone downhill though.

I remember the revolving light from the airport too. I always thought it added to the ambiance of the drive in.

Riley’s Fun Spot was the place you were refering to. It had a driving range, batting cages, miniture golf, and an ice cream stand. Unfortunately it is now gone too. It was a lot of fun in it’s day. There was even a bowling alley that was right there next to the drive in. That too is gone. It burnt down. Very sorry to see it all go.

The main photo is not anwhwere near where the drive in was. It was miles down the road.

No, I live down in Pittsburgh, but I still visit New Castle often because I have lots of family there.

Nice to see that someone other than just me remembers the Super Castle! It would be great if anyone had a photo of the screen that had the turrets on each side.

I have some good photos of what’s left of the drive in. I’ll post them as soon as CT starts accepting photos again

This sounds like the Madison Skyway Drive In. I visited it last winter, and it’s heavily overgrown. The drive in that I’m talking about clearly said Madison Skyway on the sign. Is it the same one?

Just visited Lodi. The theater and building are nowhere to be found. Some of the locals say it was torn down by 1985 at the latest. I was told that the First Merit bank now occupies the lot that the theater was on.

1707 Audley Ave. might be where the owner lived, but the drive in definitely was not there. I grew up a few blocks from that address, and it is all residential. The Skyline was on Old Youngstown Rd. right near New Castle Airport.

Just visited what is left of the drive in. The only things left are the concession stand and the projection building. Both are in a severe state of decay. The projection building has no roof and practically no walls. Both projectors are still there. One is laying on it’s side, the other is still facing to where the screen was.

It was on Old Youngstown Rd. In an area called Parkstown. That area had everything fun to do. It had the drive in, a bowilng alley, go carts, a roller rink, a nature park and a place called Riley’s Fun Spot. Riley’s had miniture golf, a driving range, batting cages, and an ice cream shop. This was definitely the place to be when I was growing up.

By the way, the whole plaza is for sale for $319,000, not just the theater. It’s located in a pretty good area.
