The Atlas Theatre was built in 1910 at 832 N. 3rd Street (just north of North Ave.), in Milwaukee, WI. Due to the City of Milwaukee changing all of the street addresses city-wide in 1930, the new address at the same site became 2342 N. 3rd Street. Later, the City renamed N. 3rd Street as MLK Drive. The theatre was not located near S. 4th St. & E. Lincoln Ave., near Baran Park (the map link on this page is the correct location). Also, the theatre opened as the Atlas and the name was later changed to the Century. The Century was remodeled in June 1949, went through bankruptcy in the mid-late 1950’s, and closed in 1966. In 1969, the Milwaukee Inner City Arts Council proposed remodeling the theatre, but the plan never materialized, and the theatre was demolished some time in the early 1970’s.
