On November 19, 1968, the Cinema I begins service replacing the State Theatre. The seating moves from 587 to 462 seating to give people more leg room. Dittmar and Stubbs did the architectural work for the improved Cinema I. Opening films were wide screeners, “Gone With the Wind,” “Carousel,” “Dr. Doolittle,” and “2001: A Space Odyssey.”
