Chilton Cinema 1
A precursor to the Chilton was the Princess Theatre (formerly the Royal Theatre). At far right is an ad as the Royal/New Royal from 1910. At bottom is its December 12, 1912 grand (re-) opening adas the Princess.
The theater held “smoker” nights with free cigars. Luck ran out for the Princess a year later when it suffered a major fire. The Auditorium Theatre took on motion picture duty burning in 1930. It was replaced by The Chilton in 1931 which continued into the 21st Century.
