Though long closed as a theatre, the building is intact, housing restaurants on the ground floor and a billiard parlour upstairs. The Strand is a former silent picture theatre, and stayed open through several refurbishments until closure due to TV induced patronage loss. It was the Greater Union theatre, confronting Hoyts Ozone further down Jetty Road on the northern side.
