The Alameda Theater was opened in October 1948, but never made it into editions of Film Daily Yearbook. It screened Spanish language movies to a mainly Mexican audience. It was being used as an electronics store when I last saw it about 20 years ago.
It had a colorful marquee and vertical sign that was blue with white lettering and was topped with a red/orange “winged” ball or sun.
Falfurrias is another dreary little town near the Texas gulf coast. The Alameda Theater was demolished in 2006.

This old run down Alameda Theatre is no more. Just an empty lot when I drove through town a week ago. The Pioneer is of course still there.

Glad I took so many photos when I did. The tile work on the front facade was nice. Photos to follow.
Vaudeville performer Thomas Jefferson “Stout” Jackson built his first indoor theatre in Falfurrias in 1948 and his Alameda opened in October.
