AMC Theatres at Downtown Disney

Do you have to pay for admission to Disneyland before you can attend this theatre? Or is it outside the gates?

No, you don't have to pay admission to Disneyland to go to the movie theater. It's outside both theme parks in the shopping, entertainment, and restaurant area. Downtown Disney is in the area that separates the California Adventure Theme Park and the Disneyland Theme Park. There is also a special parkinglot that you park in that is totally free for 3 hours (so you don't have to pay a Disney parking fee like you have to do for the Theme parks), and if you stay longer such as one of the many restaurants in Disney, or go to the movie theater, you just use you movie ticket stub as a validation, and I think that is good for free parking for at least 6 hours, more than enough time.

This AMC Downtown Disney is sort of the sister multiplex for the much larger one in Pleasure Island in Downtown Disney in Florida.

I took a tour of this theatre. The basement level (yes basement) holds the receiving room for the kitchen and offices. There is a huge employee breakroom down there with a private bathroom.

There are two elevators down to the basement, either through the regular lobby elevator or by the freight elevator in the kitchen.

Third level mezzanie has the entrance for handicapped to the big houses as well as the two side projection rooms.

There is a fourth level where the upper projection room is for the two main houses.

Does anyone have specific info on this theater? For example: How much does each auditorium seat? How big are the screens? Is the sound really good (and loud)? Thanks

All auditoriums have stadium seating with rocking seat backs.

Screens are pretty much wall to wall, can't remember the exact dimensions but they are some of the largest screens I have seen.

All 12 theaters are SDDS Equipped and were once THX Certified.
5,7,& 10 are DTS equipped.

Parking is free for 3 hours and additional 2 are available with validation that can be done at the ticket drop station. Parking rates are $6 per hour (charged in 20 min increments $2per 20min)

This is a fairly low traffic theater due to it's location so if you want to watch a movie without bumping elbows with other people this is a good choice.

I thought the auds here still were THX Certified. When did that change?

Why would they take the THX ability away?

This is a very nice theater. It barely gets crowded unless a big gun opens, and Dinsey movies always do the best here.

Probably does good on rainy days.....
