- Nov 5, 2010 — Ocala Drive-in to reopen
Opened as Dyers Drive-In in 1948. By 1949, it was listed as the Drive-In, operated by Carl C. Howell with a capacity for 550 cars. By 1955 it had been renamed Ocala Drive-In and was operated by Ray Rogers with a 500 car capacity. It was closed in 2007.
Taken over by new operators, a flea market began operating on the site in the spring of 2011, and the drive-in was renovated and reopened on July 29, 2011 with a 300 car capacity. At the end of the 2016 season, a second screen was added.

I lived here from 1949-1960. My dad was Ray Rogers who was the manager of the theatre under Ira Dyer and then Carl Howell. We lived inside the screen apt for a several years and then we moved into the house directly behind the drive-in parking lot. (not there anymore) I now live in Albany, Ky. I have such wonderful memories of the theatre, and am so glad it is still going strong. LONG LIVE OCALA DRIVE-IN !!!
