The Scenic Theatre was located on North Main Street at Central Square in Rochester and was opened in 1912. In 1945, according to that year's Film Daily Yearbook, it was open and seated 600. In 1950, the seating capacity was given as 975.

In June 2007, plans were proposed to convert the building into an entertainment center.

Here is a 1930 article that gives the owner of the Scenic Theater as Fred Couture. It also mentions a Leavitt Theater on South Main st.

The Scenic is listed in the 1942-43 edition of the Motion Picture Almanac as part of the Interstate Theatre Corp. of Boston. Interstate also ran the Colonial (a.k.a. State) Theatre in Rochester.

It appears as though the Scenic may be rising from the dust. See the news story here http://www.thinkrochester.biz/files/ScenicTheaternews.pdf
