The Fox Cabrillo Theatre was opened on November 15, 1923 with a seating capacity of 1,522. It was located 2-3 blocks from the Warner San Pedro Theatre.
It was closed by Fox West Coast Theatres on August 13, 1957 with Stewart Granger in “Gun Glory” & Bing Crosby in “Man on Fire”. It was demolished in 1958 and replaced by a parking lot.

Forgive my spelling – it’s barely 9 a.m.
No trace of the theater today. It’s apparently been used only for parking for the last 50 years, unless something was built on the space and then torn down in the interim. The location is across the street, more or less, from the Ports O'Call shopping area.

The 1925 LA city directory lists a Victoria Theater at 115 W. Sixth in San Pedro. This may be an incorrectly listed predecessor to the Fox Cabrillo. I won’t add it as a new theater unless we find some further info on the Victoria.
The Fox Cabrillo was at 115 W. Seventh, not Sixth. The Victoria was a different theatre. It’s mentioned, in passing, on a card in the California Index referencing a 1920 article.
Additionally, in the California Index I’ve come across mentions of theatres in San Pedro bearing the following names: Alhambra, Barton, Electric, Empire, Lyric, Star. and Union. No addresses or other details are given for any of them.
I know they were on different streets. I thought maybe it was an error due to the similarity in street numbers. Including the Victoria, there are seven theaters in San Pedro that haven’t been accounted for yet.

My Grandfather managed this theater. His name was Clarence “Doc” Crews. He also opened and managed the El Portal in North Hollywood and the Fox Studio City theater.
Though the Fox lease on the Cabrillio expired in 1961, the circuit closed the theatre on August 13, 1957 with “Gun Glory” and “Man on Fire.” The city acquired the property and demolished it in 1962 for a parking lot project.
