The Bakersfield Valley Plaza 16 is now operated by Reading Cinemas. Pacific can be taken off the name.

New web sites, too:

Bakersfield Valley Plaza 16 web page.

Reading Cinemas U.S. web site.

There should be a separate page for the original Valley Plaza Theatre, opened in 1966 by Statewide Theatres, and later operated by Loew’s. Apparently it was demolished to make way for the current megaplex.

Auditorium 15 has been upgraded to Reading Cinemas' premium TITAN LUXE format, and is currently upgrading every seat to recliners. Alternatively, theater name is currently Reading Cinemas Valley Plaza IMAX + TITAN LUXE

Also on a side note I just realized the main lobby mural is based off the poster for “This is Cinerama” but with the Bakersfield sign…wouldn’t be surprised if this was intentional knowing Pacific also owned the Cinerama dome

Capacity pre-recliner remodel is 3,112. Will be going back next month to update the current seating arrangements alongside to take note of Auditorium 15’s TITAN LUXE retrofit.

Did some more research, supposedly this theater was THX-certified at some point during Pacific’s ownership

Select theaters have not received recliners believe it or not, possibly due to the fact that some of these already smaller theaters would become even smaller after the recliner remodel.

Will update what theaters don’t have recliners, but I can confirm the capacity has been downsized to 1,514 seats down from 3,112.

Only theaters that did not receive recliner upgrades are 4-9 all at a capacity of 99 each.

Did some more research and unsurprisingly like most theaters from 1999 that I’ve seen, this opened on May 19, 1999 alongside Episode 1.

forgot to mention back in Feb but the auditoriums that did not receive recliner upgrades all have lower “discount” prices than the recliner auditoriums…at the cost of just having the same small awkward seating design that I personally feel like recliners wouldn’t even work without major construction work to redesign it entirely
