Located in Cadoxton, near Barry. The Picture Palace opened in 1914. It was a chapel-like building, and an unusual feature was the construction of the projection box high up on the facade of the building, overhanging the pavement. This was later removed when a projection box was built inside the building, probably in 1930, when talkies arrived. Inside the auditorium, the proscenium was 30 feet wide.

The Palace Cinema was closed in the late-1950's, and reportedly used as a gymnasium for a time after closure. It was demolished in 1994, and housing built on the site.

A report of the demolition, with picture, can be found in the "South Wales Echo" dated 24 June 1994, page 16, under the title "Last Reel for a Screen Gem".

The report of demolition contains a factual error confusing the Palace, Cadoxton, with the "Palace Theatre" in Thompson St, Barry. This other Palace had been a live theatre/music hall under various owners and proudly advertised Barry's first talkies in June 1929 having spent £1400 on "British Talking Picture" equipment.
