This building appears to date from the '40s. It has been recently restored, but the vertical portion of the marquee has lit plastic panels instead of neon. This appears to have been done during the '60s. The marquee is very odd looking. Both vertical and horizontal portions are polished metal, with very minimal red striping. The vertical portion leans away from the building and features a pole with a large neon trimmed mace on top. Building itself is a quite basic light green concrete structure with dark green tile at street level.

The Ritz Theatre actually opened in 1928 and continued to show movies until 1984. The marquee and the vertical have been completely restored. The theatre is presently doing community live performances.

The Ritz recently redid the marquee and the vertical. The neon was damaged in a hail storm so it was replace with florscent colored tubing. It does not look that great but it was a cheap fix for the Ritz who has very little income.

In 1963, the Ritz was operated by Lollar & Clements Theaters. Partners were Mr. and Mrs. N.R. Clements. Other theaters in the Clements empire were the Trail Drive-In, the Aztec, Palace and Starlite, all in Snyder, Texas.

I think the Ritz in Snyder was a civic effort and is owned and operated by the community.
