The AMC Puente Mall 6 was located outside the Puente Hills Mall. It was a cozy old six screen that opened when the mall opened December 22, 1974. It remained unchanged until the late-1970’s when AMC Built the Puente East 4 across the street.

This theatre lasted until 1997, then it was closed when AMC opened their Puente 20 inside the mall. It was demolished and an Ethan Allen now sits where it once stood

In the days of union projectionists, AMC and the projectionist’s union would negotiate a separate contract for this theater because it had six screens

The Puente 6 and 4 were the starting points for a “who’s who” of west coast AMC “names”. Amoung these were the Dashwood sisters, who would work their way from Puente box cashiers to industry executives; one is now COO of Pacific Theatres, the other is in charge of Lucas Films' THX division. Back in the days of AMC’s division system (now defunct), Puente alumni were a dominant presence among West Division upper management/executives.

I remember seeing movies such as “Phantom of the Paradise” at the Puente AMC, so it was open at least as early as 1974. Does anyone recall when it was opened? At the time, it was the largest multi-plex in the SGV.
