The 400-seat Regent Theatre was opened September 9, 1966 with Dirk Bogarde in “King and Country”. It was operated by Laemmle Theatres. It often operated as a spillover house for the Village Theatre, which is just a few hundred feet away.
Its lobby was absorbed years ago by adjacent retail space and its remaining auditorium is a relic of the 1970’s.
The Regent Theatre was taken over by Landmark Theatres in 2002 from Mann Theatres. On June 14, 2019 it was closed for renovations and reopened in October 2019 as the Landmark Westwood Theatre.

The theater is schedule to close http://www.lamag.com/askchris/classic-landmark-regent-theatre-westwood-closing-50-years/
The theatre seems to be remaining open at least through the summer. They have Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed Live at Pompeii booked for September 13.
I wonder what this movie theater was like during the 70’s and 80’s periods
I saw a few films there. Nightcrawler and Star Trek into Darkness among them. I like this little venue. They should do more with it – it would be a great place to show rep cinema. They took out their 35mm projectors though. Not too late to get them back!
Interesting development: Landmark’s Regent Theatre in Westwood Village apparently will continue to exist. The articles from 2017 above said the property owners intended to close it and convert the space into restaurants.
However, Landmark tweeted this on June 12:
TheRegent will be temporarily closed from Friday, June 14 through mid-October 2019 for a brand new remodel!

Also, in this week’s Landmark Theatres Los Angeles weekly email (June 13) was this information:
“REGENT THEATRE TEMPORARY CLOSURE: The Regent will be closed for renovations beginning June 16. The theatre will reopen this fall with a new bar, auditorium seating and other exciting upgrades. In the meantime, please visit us at The Landmark and the Nuart! See you at the movies!”
The Regent has been re-named The Landmark Westwood

Is this the theater shown in the news report at the 2:41 mark of the video below?

MrMarin and hdtv267: The theater depicted in the news report was the Coronet.
Please update, total seats 168 based on landmark ticketing system. New leather seats were installed.
Update: 168 is incorrect number of total seats when you check the Landmark ticketing system. The correct number is 193 seats and just confirmed this number with theater manager (Aug 2023). A sign in the lobby lists max occupancy as 245, but that would be inclusive of guests in wheelchairs etc.
