TC….You actually found the Laurel theater so be my guest and add it. And Ken should add the Majestic and Stanley theaters if they aren’t already listed here.

good find lostmemory. I should have checked the news link. Do you want to do the honors and add the Laurel/Criterion to the database?

The Laurel theater is a different theater that was built in 1950. It was a replacement for the Criterion theater. You can read about that theater here:

The address that the Biograph theater was located at still exists. Today this address is Riley’s Sports at 46 S Laurel St. I don’t know if its the same building or not.

In 1941 and 1943 editions of F.D.Y. there are 3 theatre listed for Bridgeton, NJ. (non are currently on the Cinema Treasures database)
Criterion 1,350 seats
Majestic 500 seats
Stanley 1,550 seats

Strangely, in the 1950 edition of F.D.Y. there is no listing for Bridgeton or the next town alphabetically Burlington!

My 1951 FDY lists a Laurel Theatre in Bridgeton (no street address). Cinematour.com lists the Laurel Theatre at N. Laurel street. Too close for comfort! Good chance they are the same, this being a small town.
