The Riverside Drive-In was originally owned and operated by GRIF when it opened in 1948. It later was operated by Video Independent. The ozoner closed in 1970 and demolished in the late-1970’s. It was a single screen with a 600 car capacity.
After being demolished the road was widened taking part of the old ozoner and an apartment complex and restaurant built on the remainder of the property.

Just for the record, it was not on S. Delaware, it was on the South Side of 71st street. .
whorton, are you sure that Video Theatres was the first to own the Riverside Drive-IN? I didn’t think that Video Theatres was in existance that far back.

Chuck, when the Riverside DI was opened in 1948, the entity was then known as “Griffith Theatres.” Griffith Theatres later became “Video Theatres.”
