In 1958-1959 I worked for Roth’s Silver Spring Theatre as an usher, marquee sign changer, seat repairer, and whatever, finally as coffee maker. YES, Roth’s had a lounge in the front of the theatre and a coffee counter where you could relax with a complimentary cup of good java until the next show started. I learned to make the coffee and personally thought I was pretty good (at least no one complained to the management). Anyway here are two images of some of the fine folks I worked with. The only name I can recall is the gent in the uniform and only remember him as “Sarge”. Anyone here recall, Roth’s, the free coffee or any of these people by name? “good” is relative.
