Well, they were far away from the wives. What do you expect?
“Army’s Weekly Yank”? What a name. LOL
From the Army’s Weekly Yank, dated 11/5/43:
The Victory theater in Bayonne, N.J. is cutting out films and going on a two-a-day vaudeville basis.
Daniel J. Murphy was the contractor in charge of the construction of the Bayonne Opera House.
This building was demolished after a fire in the early 1970’s. A ShopRite supermarket was built on the site. The current address of the supermarket is 583 Avenue C.
1907 theater photo link in earlier comment is not the Opera House, but a different theater altogether, at a different location in Bayonne, NJ.
Listed in the 1944 FDY. Listed in the 1956 FDY with no seat total, possibly closed.
Site of the Bayonne Dance marathon in 1932 (as the Opera House)
This looks like the same building from 1907:

A Wurlitzer organ (opus 66) was installed in the Opera House on 8/23/1915.
