The Independence Square Cinema, located near the historic Independence Square, got its name from the same. It first opened in June 20, 1975 as a twin-screen cinema and features first run attractions.
The building is rather impressive with the dark red color and dark brown trim. Canvas balloon awnings over the poster cases and front doors. Colonial style lanterns are on each side of the second floor windows with a large cinema sign between the windows and above the front entrance.
In around 2008, it was renamed Pharaoh 4 Cinemas and is operated by the independent Globe Cinemas company.
