The Espace opened in 1978, in the then-underserved area of Zouk in Beirut. It was the first multiplex-style cinema to open in the Middle East, with five screens. The Espace was completely remodeled in 2001, and today continues to operate as a first-run movie house, showing Hollywood, European, and Middle Eastern films.
