The Lagoon Cinema was built in 1995. The Lagoon is a five screen theater that screens mostly independent and foreign language films.

Rumor has it that this cinema will be closing. Plans call for building an up market hotel, and a new cinema on the site.

Lately the Lagoon has been showing a lot of first run hollywood fare in addition to the art films they’re known for. I’m a little worried that the indies will soon be gone completely.
