The Broadway closed in 1987. One of the last films to play there was “La Bamba”, a film whose era was occupied by Eddie Cochran ( born in Albert Lea in 1938 ).

I came across an article on Minnesota Theatres and it stated that the Broadway opened in 1903 and closed as a movie theatre in 1985. It had various owners, American Amusement, Friedman and Carisch Theatres. Not sure if Friemand & Carisch were two circuits, it just indicatged Friedman and Carisch.

A Couple notes: The name in the header should be Broadway Twin Theatre (The last name that the theatre had), AKA Broadway Theastre, New Broadway Theatre.
The address for the Broadway Twin Theatre was 394 S. Broadway.
The building is still standing but from what I see it is unoccupied. The Broadway sign is still on the fron of the building but the marquee has been removed.

There’s a small vintage photo of the Broadway at the bottom of this page.
