After looking at older photos I had my doubts about the building. I believe the remaining picture would be what would have been the marquee but if that’s wrong I’ll remove it as well.

Great photos, only problem is that is the old IGA store. That is def not the twin theater

I don’t remember the Saluki Twin much, but I do remember the Pinch Penny. Great place, I hope they are doing well. SIU ALUM

Still operating in 1986:

January 25, 1986….

“In local theaters were: "The Color Purple” and “White Nights” were playing at the Saluki Theater on East Grand Avenue; “Black Moon Rising,” “Out of Africa,” and “Runaway Train” was playing at the Varsity Theater downtown; “Rocky IV,” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street 2” was playing in the Fox Eastgate Theater, located on 712 E. Walnut Street; and “Rambo: First Blood Part II” was playing in the Student Center Auditorium".
