Here’s the Illini near its opening in 1941. Tri-States Theatre Corp. began modernizing theatres in Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska and the modernizations were almost all completed prior to Pearl Harbor. Only a few of the projects were suspended for WW2 and material shortages. The Illini storefront was an old bank building.
