I’ve got a lot of history with this place. A couple of months before it was built, my father (Henry Hallford) put me in contact with Mr. Bing, who was responsible for bringing the Cinemark to Sand Springs (and also its “twin” over in Broken Arrow). He and his wife were wonderful people, and shared with me a magnificent treasure trove of photos of all the different theaters Mr. & Mrs. Bing worked at over many years, including examples of the amazing and extravagant premieres he’d help put on as a manager at theaters down in Texas over the years.

Once construction began, I was part of the team that put in the seats, hung the screens, put up the speakers, and set up the projectors. Once we were done with Sand Springs, we did the same for the Broken Arrow theater.

After the theater was completed, I was appointed to be the head doorman, and was in charge of the ushers. Inspired by the photographs of all the photos that Mr. Bing had shown me, I added a red bowtie, cummerbund, and white gloves to our official uniform as a callback to the golden age of theaters.

Very proud to have been a part of this theater’s history.
