The Teatro Rialto opened in 1917 and quickly became the home of Paramount Pictures in the Central district of Caracas.
The building also had apartments built above the cinema and two retail stores on each side of the entrance. Seating in the auditorium was in stalls and balcony.
In 1943 it was closed for a total re-furbishment which transformed both the exterior and interior into an Art Deco style. It re-opened on 29th April 1943 with Humphrey Bogart in “Casablanca”.
The building is now owned by the Metropolitan Government and when seen in April 2006 it was being re-furbished, renovated and restored to create a theatre for the Metropolitan Dance and Theatre Company. It re-opened in 2015 as the Teatro Bolivar.
