A Robert-Morton theater organ was installed in the Capitol Theater in 1914. Note: Johnston nameplate. A Robert-Morton theater organ was installed in the Capitol Theater in 1918. A Robert-Morton theater organ size 2/10 was installed in the Capitol Theater in 1925. Note: New organ; moved in 1934 to KFBK Radio Sacramento.
Here is a photo of a T&D Theater. Address given is 613 K Street. Was there another T&D Theater?
The Capitol Theatre is listed at 615 K Street in 1955, so yes, it must the same as the T&D Theatre in the photo.
Thanks Ken. Maybe the library was giving the address for the theater located to the right of the T&D Theater in the photo.
In Lost Memory’s Nov. 3, 2008 post, the photo shows something quite interesting. The lightbulb sunburst that is swung out from the top of the facade is nearly identical to a similar feature which was mounted on top of T&D’s DeLuxe Theatre in San Jose (1912, with the sunburst added a little later). I just compared a photo of the San Jose example with that in the above post/link. The one in San Jose had no writing in it, whereas the Sacramento one says “T&D’s Photoplays DeLuxe.”
This photo claims to be the T&D Theater circa 1915.
