I always thought this was supposed to be an Edwards, then they went under and then it was Crown and then they went under…
Cinemark at the Pike was designed by Blair Ballard Architects.
Nice photos ken mc.
Here are some photos taken yesterday:

A better choice over the nearby AMC 16 at Pine Square. With both of these they are sometimes so understaffed you can walk right in without a ticket.
This area seems to be doing OK. The Gameworks attracts a lot of young people, which I assume spills over to the theater.
Originally going to be part of the Crown Theaters chain. Crown Theaters has now been sold to Bow Tie Cinemas on the East Coast and Keratoses in the Midwest. I imagine if it seemed un-Cinemark, that might be why.
Yes thats correct. The one North is AMC Pine 16.
I saw a great presentation of ‘Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull’ at the Cinemark a few hours ago. Very clean and very well attended for a month old movie on a Friday 10.10pm screening. I’ve seen several movies here and always choose it over, the now very tired, AMC 16 on Pine, which is a four blocks North of the Cinemark.
I’ll pop back later and take a few photos of both complexes.
This is not the one on Pine north of Ocean. This one is over by the CPK, Borders and so on, off Golden Shore.
Originally set to be the west coast flagship theatre for east coast based Crown Theatres but they pulled oout, thus allowing Cinemark to take the property.
It’s still in business. I walked by there today, and they were showing the new Die Hard film. We’ll see how it goes.
I went here once. Not bad for a Cinemark. I was forced to frequent Cinemarks when I was in college in the early-mid 1990’s. The phrase “atrocious” doesn’t quite cover those theaters!
If that doesn’t sound like a press release, I don’t know what does. This theater is across the street, roughly, from the location of the former Palace.
