Carlisle Drive-In

Once one of four former drive-ins in Lorain County in Ohio, the Carlisle was in operation between 1949 to 1984. My mother went to many of the movies shown there when she lived in La Grange, Ohio, including “Old Yeller”. Towards the end of it’s life at the end of the seasons the drive-in showed X-rated movies after schools opened up and kids wouldn’t likely be able to get there on weekends anyways.

The screen, box office, and snack bar/projection booth were torn down in 1989. It is now an empty lot. Victim of the early days of cable TV and VHS tape.

Car capacity in 1975 was 400.
