Maple Grove 10

The house opened on November 22, 1991 as a first run 8-screen cinema. It was operated by Mann Theatres of Minnesota, this a different company than the Mann of California.

On December 22, 1993 it was expanded to 10-screens. It later operated as a discount cinema due to the opening of larger AMC Arbor Lakes 16 near by.

The Maple Grove didn’t have stadium seating. It was closed in summer of 2012.

A PDF available from the web site of St.Paul architectural firm Vanney Associates lists 25 theater projects designed by Robert F. Vanney, including a two-screen addition to an eight-screen theater in Maple Grove. No date is given for the project. As this is the only ten-screen theater in Maple Grove, it must have been this house.

When Mann announced the closing, it also announced that the theater building had been sold and would not be used to show movies ever again.

The building is now a whirlyball (think lacrosse in bumper cars) venue:
