Crown Theatre

The Crown Theatre was opened September 5, 1909. It was still shown as being open in the 1951 Film Daily Yearbook, with a seating capacity of 1,100, part of the Schoenstadt chain of movie theatres. It was located on W. 26th Street at Karlov Avenue in what is today the Little Village neighborhood.

The Crown was John Eberson’s very first project in Chicago, with an opening date of September 5th, 1909, according to an article by architectural historian T. P. Luna.

If so, I think the 1934 image in the photos section is probably the Chicago Crown, as it has similarities to Emerson’s design for the Vic.

Should be listed as demolished as the current building is clearly different
