Opened in 1976 as part of the ginormous Lake Forest Plaza shopping mall, located in New Orleans East. Owned & operated by Gulf States Theatres, 4 screens with a groovy 1970’s design. consisted of one very large auditorium, one large and two smaller sized ones. The Plaza Cinema 4 closed in 2002.
Flooded by hurricane Katrina in 2005, it demolished along with the entire mall in 2006. At the time of Katrina, Lake Forest Plaza was a dead mall, and it had been replaced by a free standing stadium style 8 screen Grand Theatre opened in 2002 in a parking lot area of the mall…this was a last ditch attempt effort at revitalizing the mall. It also flooded by Katrina.

In its day, Plaza Cinema 4 was a great place to work and a very good theater, state of the art when opened. I worked there in high school and college with many wonderful folks. I found a few picks in case any of them ever google this…
