The operators of the Ranch Drive-In did their best to bringa touch of the West into the deep South. It was built at a cost of over $85,000 with a 400 car capacity, it carried the western motif into the concession building. The walls and the front of the concession stand were paneled with pine, and the exposed beams in the ceiling helped add to the jaunty wide open space atmosphere. Even the restrooms gave the same decorative appearance. The Ranch Drive-In opened in 1954. The owner was Hubert Mitchell, the architect was G.W. Jones & Son.

Mr. Mitchell also owned the Studio Theatre in Hartselle that opened in 1950 seating 800. Anyone know anything about the Studio?

Approx. address for this drive-in was 900 2nd Avenue. Now Kids Play. The drive-in itself was further east where Longhorn & Talladega now meet.
