@ Mike: Couple of suggestions. I bet the county or town historian would love to get their hands on your photos, and would gladly scan them for you, and let you keep the photos if you want, while giving you digital copies of their scans on a dvd.

Scanner/copiers are also pretty inexpensive if you’d like to purchase your own digital scanner.

Frontage Rd & Edwards Dr, Conyers, GA 30013

The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in, which is visible on Google Earth using historic aerial imagery.

I REMEMBER SEEING THIS DRIVE IN GOING TO FALCONS GAMES FROM AUGUSTA. ONE TIME I LEFT EARLY TO EXPLORE. THE BOX OFFICE WAS DONE IN BEATIFUL STONE WORK. THE BOOTH AND CONCESSIONSTAND A TYPICAL WHITE BLOCK BUILDING. LITTLE BACKGOUND ON THIS DRIVE IN THE TV SERIES … IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT… SHOT ON THAT DRIVE IN LOCATION FOR A STORY IN THAT SHOW. YOU CAN SEE THE SCREEN AND BOOTH. IN 1956 THE MOON LITE DRIVE IN HELD 250 CARS AND WAS OWNED BY MRS. V.M. EDWARDS. TODAY I THINK THE OLD CONCESSIONSTAND MIGHT BE UP HAVE NOT BEEN UP THAT WAY IN AWHILE.

This is the link for the Moonlit page on the drive-ins.com website. Contains 6 good pictures. The comment section on this site is not up at this time, but one of the comments that had been posted said that the Moonlit operated into the 80’s which would put it well into the Salem Gate days. I know that it was still in operation during the late 70’s. Despite being located along the I-20 access road, from the dirt field itself you certainly had the feeling of being well out into the country.
