This small theater was in operation at least 1912-1913 and last functioned as an auto repair shop.

There is a photo of the theater on Google maps. It looks like some kind of garage, but it’s hard to tell.
The Diversey Theater was converted from a single screen/ stage theater to a shopping mall in the 1970s and renamed: The Century Shopping Center. On March 31, 2000, Landmark Theaters opened seven screens, on the 4th, 5th, and 6th levels of the shopping center, with stadium-seating, dedicated to independent and foreign language films. Over the last decade, the number of shops in the complex has declined with high levels of turnover. The theater complex though continues to preform extremely well and is usually mostly sold out on the weekends. Of the original Diversy Theater, nothing remains except for the terra cotta facade. A marquee was added to the facade when theaters were added to the mall in 2000.
This Diversey Theater is not the one that became the Century Shopping Center; that theater (which began its life as the Diversey and was later named the Century) is currently listed on CT as Landmark’s Century Center Cinema, and is located at 2828 North Clark. This entry above refers to a much older theater that was actually located on Diversey.
Whoops, sorry about that, I didn’t note the address of this Diversey Theater.
