C.G. Wells brought regular movies to the town with his Elkton Opera House. The New Theatre competed against the Opera House when built in 1924. Wells managed the theatre and this is his ad layout circa 1926. The New Theatre burned down in a fire on December 20, 1947 that took out two hotels, as well. The New Theatre was replaced in 1949 by the Elk Theatre at a different location,
