The Malone Theater was opened by Will T. Malone in 1898. In 1908, a silent film ran as actors stood behind the screen reciting the dialogue in an early version of a talking film. The Malone was later renamed the Empire.

The address for the Malone/Empire Theatre was 151 W. Jackson. That section of Jackson no longer exists. But that was the address according to the Arkansas Historical magazine.
