The Theatre Royal opened on March 11, 1915. The architect was Hugh C. Grierson. Renovation in the 1950’s included a name change to the Embassy Theatre. Despite protests, the theater was demolished in 1994.

There is no town in New Zealand called Waikato.

No Royal theatre/cinema have been renamed “Embassy” or any other name.
