This original photograph taken prior to the official opening of the Westover cinema clearly shows the inspiring entrance foyer. Viewed at first floor level is the Balcony Cafe which surrounds three sides of the elliptical opening. It vividly exhibits the coming together of five experienced contractors of the 1930’s. The main building contractors Brazier & Son created the terrazzo flooring, plaster embellishments and decorative painting Clark & Fenn, all lighting manufactured and fitted by Herbert Pride, Lusty & Son provided the furnishings and all display frames made and fitted by Art Display Service. It was these suppliers who helped to create the Art Deco memory of cinemas.
