Was this theater located in a mall? The address above is for the Rimrock Mall which was for sale on LoopNet. The zipcode is 59102.
The Rimrock Mall opened on September 10, 1975 and the Rimrock 4 opened on October 15 under the ownership of Theatre Operator Incorporated, which also ran the local World theatre and 23 other screens in Montana and Wyoming. The Billings Gazette said the 1,000-seat cinema was first four plex in Montana and boasted of a relativity new computerized platter system. The building was attached to the outside of the mall near the entrance so patrons could access it without wandering through the mall. Given the cold Montana winters, the box office and entrance to the theatre itself was probably inside the mall. Today Carmike’s Wynnsong 10 provides the entertainment at the mall. The Rimrock Mall website has a mall map of where Lucky Lil’s casino is located. http://www.rimrockmall.com/
Boxoffice of August 27, 1979, has an item about the opening of a new twin theater of 900+ seats called the World West in the Rimrock Mall. It, too, was to be a Theatre Operators house. I don’t see it listed at Cinema Treasures.
Joe the World West Twin was located at 2520 Central Ave. I believe the World West Twin is now a bank. It is not listed on CT.
