The Charlotte Observer IMAX Dome Theater is part of Discovery Place Museum. It originally served as a planetarium and Omnimax theater. The Omninmax format has been replaced with IMAX films and mainstream Hollywood movies have also been added recently. It has operated successfully for many years and is due to be remodeled in 2009 along with the entire science museum.
