United Artists Movies at Pompano opened on May 26, 1978. It was a rectangular shaped one story stand alone building, with the front of the theatre facing North Federal Highway. It was situated just north of the Pompano Fashion Square Mall and just south of a K-Mart. As with many South Florida theatres, you purchased your tickets at the booth just outside the entrance. You then proceeded into the theatre, where there was a small lobby and refreshment center island. The individual theatre entrances were past the refreshment center. I happily remember seeing many movies there during the 1980’s when I lived in Broward County. It was eventually closed and demolished, making way for the Muvico Pompano Theatre.

Re street view: Movies at Pompano 6 was in front of the present Muvico Broward (formerly Muvico Pompano), to the right of the curb cut next to the Quizno’s sign. (Don’t look for Quizno’s there now, they’ve since closed.) Muvico’s current space was previously a supermarket behind the UA sixplex.
