Opened in around 1997, the United Artist’s Showcase 8 is located in the Showcase Mall building close to the MGM Grand Hotel, on its northern side. The site had originally housed a Drive-In and then the Stardust Hotel was built on the site in 1958 and it was imploded in March 2007. The actual street entrance is located on MGM Street, and is tucked away from view from the busy ‘Strip’. There is a presence on S. Las Vegas Boulevard in the part of the Showcase Mall building which contains M&M World as one of its tenants.
In January 2009 the S. Las Vegas Boulevard (Strip) location, directly in front of the UA Showcase was redeveloped as a Planet Hollywood Restaurant which was hoped to generate a more pleasing approach to the United Artist’s Theatre. The theatre was operated by the Regal Entertainment Group and was the last movie theatre to operate on the ‘Strip’. It was closed around January 23, 2018.
