The Cine Benlliure opened with Rock Hudson & Jane Wyman in "Magnificent Obsession" on 22nd November 1954, with 1,500 seats in orchestra and balcony levels.
In November 1991, it was converted into a twin screen, with 796 seats in the former orchestra and 704 seats in the former balcony.
The Cine Benlliure closed on 7th January 2007, with "Happy Feet" and "Deja Vu". The closure came suddenly, and joined the eleven Barcelona city centre cinemas which had closed in the past 3 years.
The former cinema is now an Abac bookshop.
