The original Security Mall Cinema, opened in 1972, was a combination of decent-sized "traditional" auditoriums and General Cinema’s infamous 1970’s "bowling alleys" (long, narrow rooms).

By 1980 at least one of the larger houses had a nice Dolby Stereo sound system. A sound-only snipe before features announced that intermission music was sponsored by York Steak House, a restaurant in the mall. This theater closed in 1987, to be replaced by the current complex outside the mall; a large food court is in the space.
