Some sources list the Silver Dollar Twin Drive-In as opening in 1948. Judging from vintage photos it appears that this was quite a large theatre. Styling was of clean line Modern.
What do you know about the Silver Dollar?

The Related Websites link isn’t working. I don’t know when this drive-in was twinned but the 1980 IMPA lists a Silver Dollar Drive-In with a capacity for 800 cars.
Here is a better path to above mentioned link. To view photo type in words “Silver Dollar”,

Thanks. That link works. I wonder if this actually had two screens or were they referring to two movies being shown in 1948.
A third screen was later added,it closed when Syufy entered the area
Address for the Silver Dollar Twin 5800 San Mateo NE. Here is a link for a newspaper ad. http://www.drive-ins.com/pictures/nmtsilv002.jpg Here is a link to a photo of the Marquee. http://www.drive-ins.com/pictures/nmtsilv003.jpg
I have no mention of this Drive-in in my 1956 Motion picture Almanac, must have missed a year.
Address above is incorrect. The entrance (still in use) is further south @ 5400. The business park to the east of this is where the drive-in stood.
Sorry to disapoint you. But that Marquee is Not the Silver Dollar Drive In. On San Mateo Albuq.NM. My dad was the Gen. Mgr. of the Terrace, Wyoming, Duke City,Tesque, and Silver Dollar drive in’s, from 1963-1975. I worked at all 5 drive ins.
The address in the header is correct, look at the newspaper ads. All the photos that are on the internet have the same style photo for the marquee and claim to be the Silver Dollar Drive-In in Albuquerque. There is only one other Silver Dollar listed and that is in Phoenix and that is definately not the Silver Dollar in pHorenix.
