A closer address is 2998 S Stockton Ave, Monahans, TX.

Google Maps has updated their addresses and this puts it right on the property. You can still see parch marks of some of the ramps.

Dallas Morning News, Oct. 9, 1986: “Paul and Martha Klaptt have built and operated many drive-ins, but they feel closest to the last one they built, in Monahans: the Lobo Drive-in. Last July was the Lobo’s 34th anniversary. In August, the couple retired and sold it.”

(If accurate, that anniversary would mark the opening year as 1952.)

From Paul Klatt’s obituary in the Weatherford (TX) Democrat, March 18, 2012: “Paul Klatt … owned and operated Drive-in-Theatres in several places. Paul moved to Weatherford from Monahans, where he owned The Lobo Drive-in-Theatre.”

The ramps were visible as late as 2016, but now are leveled out. Google Maps likes the address of 2806 S Stockton Ave, Monahans, TX.

you are both wrong. The Lobo was in Monahans (zip 79756)

The Lobo Drive-in was on the Grandfalls Highway (Hwy 18) South of town. (see link to google map…you can still see the rows facing the screen. http://tinyurl.com/cj7f8oc

There was also the Corral Drive-in and it was on Old Hwy 80 (Business 20 aka West Sealy Ave.) West of Monahans

The Lobo was on Stockton Highway, so the second photo should be this theater. It opened in 1952.

Google is asleep at identifying Monahans on the map. It is located here:

And I think I found the old drive-in (there could have been more than one)
