A second screen was added in 1968/69.
The former lobby of the theatre now houses ATB Financial but the Paramount verticle is still i place.
This theatre’s opening attraction in 1950 was “Fancy Pants” starring Bob Hope and Lucille Ball, a Paramount Film. This theatre was a partnership between A. W. Shackleford and Sons and Famous Players Canadian Corporation. When I visited this theatre in 1990, I told Mr. Bob Shackleford his son that the theatre was extremely clean (immaculate) he told me his father wouldn’t have it any other way!!!
This theatre later became the Empire 4th Avenue on September 30, 2005 when Empire Theatres took it over from Famous Players. It closed in 2007.
Also, the address for the Paramount/Empire 4th Avenue was 723 4th Avenue South.
In 1950 the Paramount in Lethbridge had 1000 seats. Another theater listed in 1950 for Lethbridge that I don’t see listed on CT is the Roxy Theater.
