From Fox 46 News: For 65 years, families have enjoyed the Bessemer City Kings Mountain Drive-In Theate At $10 a carload, the drive-in has welcomed thousands. This weekend, the drive-in will roll films for the final time. It’s closing because Hollywood isn’t producing the film the theater uses anymore. Friday, August 29- Sunday, August 30, the drive-in will show three films back-to-back-to-back. The first feature film is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, followed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and then 22 Jump Street. Header should read closed.

They must have enlarged the lot, in 1956 it parked 250 cars. Don’t remember it being that big. Gay Stinett owned it in the 50’s.

I have always wanted to see a movie here it is a beautiful location with the North Carolina Mountains behind the screen. Visited a couple of times during the day and took pictures. Pretty sure they have a platter having looked in the window. Problem is when coming from Charlotte,THe Belmont Drive in is right off 1-85 and since we are coming from after a day a Carowinds and from Georgia it just makes sense to stop there, but I do hope to catch a film there. Looks like the marquee could use some paint. The picture I have of it it looks great. Another great gem for metro Charlotte.
